About me :)

I’m a wife, mom, photographer, writer, and trauma survivor who’s determined to not just get by, but to thrive… I’m in active recovery from PTSD, major depression, and addiction, and one of my greatest joys is sharing the ups and downs, lessons, and ahas! on the journey of recovery with others who seek truth, love, community, and spiritual healing…

My mom was diagnosed with a brain tumor on October 1st, 2012, and so my blog includes my process of the fight of her life. I thought my blog was going to be about my recovery from past trauma, but it looks like God has another plan and more work for me to do. I’ll be pulling from all the tools I’ve learned so far in recovery as I battle old tendencies toward PTSD and depression. I’m determined to never give up.

I’m a firm believer in sharing the healing process, so please feel free to share your story with me. We are all a work in progress.

May you find eternal hope and encouragement to never give up on yourself…or the people you love.

I, too, am a trauma survivor with PTSD on a journey of recovery/healing. Although it is for sad reasons, it is refreshing to find others who ‘speak the language’. I enjoyed browsing your blogs and will look forward to reading more.

Looking forward to getting your posts in my inbox!

Stumbled ion your blog via Michael Hyatt. Can relate on sooo many levels. Wish I could get it though this thick skull how to move forward. Past four years I’ve been in recovery for an eating disorder (29 years).

    • Kim – I’m so glad you found me…please be kind to yourself. You don’t have a thick skull- you just need loving help and healing. So many people struggle in silence- I’m so glad you reached out. That takes courage to do – It took me almost 20 years to do that. There is so much help out there for you. I’m praying for your healing as I type. Feel free to email me.

…funny, I was working on rewording that reply when I inadvertently sent it. I probably would have ended up not leaving a comment in the end. I’m glad my incomplete unedited comment went through. I would like to know how you overcame your depression. Wanted to email but unfortunately I can’t figure out how? Feel free to email me. :) Thanks so much for the prayer.

      • Hi Kim – yaaay, I’m so glad you accidentally sent it! I’ll definitely email you today or tomorrow. I talk a lot about various aspects of my recovery in my blog posts. I know they’re lengthy, but it might answer some of your questions. Your recovery (which will happen) might look a little different from mine but here are helpful tips we can all benefit from. I’d suggest you start a journal and write everything you feel. The connection between your unconscious mind (which we react to) and conscious mind is usually damaged when we are depressed. Without judgement, start writing, if you haven’t already. I write about the benefit of my journal in my recovery in my blog. Looking forward to connecting with you. :)

      Hi Kim,
Do you have a blog of your own? If not, why don’t you start one? I have a thick skull too. God has used the 2 x 4 treatment on me, on more than one occasion, to keep me moving forward.

      • Hi Robin, this is my personal blog. I chose my blog name Jumping on Clouds because of a conversation I had with my dearest childhood friend before she was killed by a drunk driver.

You can read about it in my post ‘Grief is a funny thing.’

  8. Sounds like we have a similar story and similar perspective motivating our blog… Looking forward to reading more :) Blessings to you!

You seem so unafraid, unashamed and so sure about life. I wish I could get to that stage in my life where I could be unafraid, unashamed and so sure. Would you mind being my mentor? I’m still 28 and just recently married with many emotional scars (many imagined – I feel, but still hurtful) that I haven’t fully recovered from and leave me awkward with people and social situations. Would love to contact you through email if that’s possible. Only if you don’t mind that is. =0)

Take care and God Bless You…

    • I’d love to help you any way I can…Yes, please feel free to email me. I’m a broken person who’s completely dependent on Jesus. He’s my strength and the source of my confidence, and I’d be honored and excited to share Him with you. It’s a painful journey sometimes, but it’s worth the struggle. I’ll be praying for you and looking for your email. :)
